Ballroom and Latin dance classes

Ballroom and Latin dancing at Lancaster includes Waltz, Quickstep, Foxtrot, Tango, Rumba, Cha ChaCha and Samba. The dancing classes are beginner friendly and have simple choreography with a lot of repetition and practice for easy learning. The dance classes involve a single dance style at a time with a routine that last generally 4-6weeks which involves recap of dance steps learnt in previous weeks.

Ballroom dancing travels around a dance floor in a anticlockwise direction, some of the dances can take a lot of space compared with latin dances which revolve around a small space on the dance floor.  We are very fortunate to have such a large venue in Lancaster for our dancing classes which make it easy to dance any style of dance even with large group of dancers attending.

You only need to bring yourself to the class the admission is cash on the door with no course fee or long commitments.

There is no dress code, its advised to wear anything that doesn’t restrict movement too much for dancing and consider that ballroom dancing is physical exercise that is indoors, so while it can be cold outside you will warm up while dancing. Some dancers have dance shoes but not all, they are not a requirement to join in with the dance classes. Footwear to avoid would be anything that grips the floor, anything that slides on the foot like flipflops or sandles. If in doubt you can try turning on the ball of foot on a tiled or laminate floor at home to see you are able to turn or if this could cause a twisted ankle, you can always ask for advice from anyone at the classes or the instructor.
